Snow coming

Watch this space, snow is coming. Be prepared for a big dump on Friday setting things up for the school holidays. Most predicitions are pointing to 20cm+ on Friday 24th.

We will be celebrating our 25th year of service on the 25th of June (yep the day after the big dump) details to come.

As for right now...............NO SNOW anywhere in Australia unfortunately. Everyone is hanging on the season starter this week. Stay tuned

Wet wet wet

No not the 80's glam band unfortunately but the description of every resort in Australia. Just checked every cam in Australia and guess what???? NO snow.

As they say, DONT PANIC. Next week is looking promising with a great big low promising between 20cm and 50cm of snow. This can swing both ways but they signs look promising at this early stage for a great cover just in time for the school holidays.

Rain rain go away

It looks like the weather has turned against us today with rain overnight. The web cams don't look promising at this stage. Another degree or two colder and we would have had a nice drop of snow.

The situation as it stands is this.......Massive east coast lows are picking up large amounts of water. Now in winter that is a great thing normally but as we have just come through an El Nino event the oceans to the north are still warm.....as it gets into a battle with the cold air from the southern ocean we just hope that the cold fronts are strong enough to win and muscle the warm air away. Be patient because as we get deeper into winter the temps will drop and we can expect large dumps of the white stuff to keep us all happy.

Snow guns

A quick look at the cams at Baw Baw this morning and it looks like the snow making crew have been busy overnight. Bottom half of the toboggan run looks like a decent cover and around the bowl cam you can see a better cover than yesterday. Still not gonna lie and pretend that is amazing but they are laying down an awesome base and it should provide a nice opportunity this weekend for toboggans and snowballs.

Freezing cold night and frost again this morning with beautiful blue skies forecast. Certainly the lovely families that ventured out yesterday had a great time and returned with smiles all round.

Hope to see you all soon.

Sooooo cold

Absolutely beautiful day up here this morning. Crystal clear air and beautiful sunshine. Frosty and wonderfully cold giving me hope that the snow guns will be fired up this week even if we don't get more snow. Baw Baw is putting a lot of effort into getting things in place and sorted so when it happens they are ready to go. St Gwinear has spent a considerable amount of time and money improving the parking and toboggan runs during the off season so no more big dipper at the bottom of the toboggan runs which filled with water. I hope for snow (and customers) as I am getting a little bored......

Waiting for snow.....

Welcome back. Sailors called it the doldrums.....that odd time where everything was calm. That sums up the situation today. We had a ripper weekend and our lovely customers all came back with smiles on their faces. Now we are waiting for another nice dump to freshen things up and to allow some skiing, boarding, tobogganing. Potential for a bit of snow late this week.......Snow dance time my friends. Forecasts are still saying we are going to have a ripper season.

Long weekend. Yahoo!!!

Absolutely beautiful morning up here at the moment. Baw Baw is holding onto a 5cm base from Saturdays fall and St Gwinear still has a little around the carpark. Customers coming back report great fun conditions over the weekend. All in all a successful opening.

We have kicked off with new signage, new website and new computers in the shop to hopefully further streamline our operations ensuring we get you in and out to the snow as quickly as possible. We are still ironing out a few bugs but hold high hopes that once it is 100% its going to be a real time saver and thank you for your patience and understanding with the initial roll out.

Now we just need more snow and 2016 will be awesome

Day 2

A cracker of a day for opening with a nice little dusting of snow. Baw Baw picked up 5cm+ so not enough to ski/board on yet but the crew will be working day and night to get snow making happening so we can start turning the lifts.

Still no official word from St Gwinear but best guess is that there would be some snow up around the higher peaks for the well prepared hiker.

Stay safe. :-)

No snow.....yet. Various forecasts suggest between 5cm and 15cm today and into tonight. No skiing yet but lets hope it gives us a nice base to build on.

Remember Chains must be carried and fitted when directed from now until September 30 and at $20 for a day hire why risk it?
