Blue skies and plenty of snow

Seasons best conditions today at both Baw Baw and Saint Gwinear with snow 2 days ago finally giving us a good solid base. Expect 4 lifts to operate today at Baw Baw with Hut, Tank, Summit and Carpet in operation. Excellent snow play and tobogganing in areas open. Fitting chains from chain bay 1.

St Gwinear has excellent cover from the car park for cross country skis and firm/icy conditions until the sun hits it. Both toboggan runs open and St G food van will be there with his Donuts and hot chocolate. Fitting chains at time of report

Amazing blue bird day

Excellent conditions on both mountains today after fantastic snowfall yesterday. 9cm of fresh dry snow on both mountains so its all systems go.

As it stands Baw Baw has 10cm of natural snow on average with 38cm in key snow making areas. 4 lifts are running, so that's Hut Run, Tank Hill, Summit and Magic Carpet for beginners. Frosti hollow is open for toboggans and with snow all the way down to chairlift corner there will be no shortage of areas for snowplay and sight seeing.

Saint Gwinear is back in business with 9cm of snow at the car park. Both toboggan runs open. Good skiing from the car park all the way. Please remember snow shoes or skis only on the trail as you can be fined. Walking trail only if you don't have skis or snow shoes (not walking boots) as footprints can cause skiers to crash.

Still snowing

Baw Baw and St Gwinear reporting good snowfall currently. Heavy conditions at St Gwinear. 8cm at the car park so far and still going. Baw Baw has 38cm of man made snow in key areas and 7-8cm of natural as well so excellent snowplay and sightseeing as well as skiing and boarding with 3 lifts.

Fitting chains both mountains at time of report

Snow overnight

Baw Baw has picked up 3cm overnight and its still snowing. Expected to continue throughout the day with snow down to 800m hopefully. A fair amount of rain yesterday so totals are still very similar but overall fresh snow has improved conditions across the resort especially outside key areas.

3 lifts turning today with Hut, Tank and Carpet to run with operational assessments on Summit this morning to determine conditions.

Frosti Hollow is open for toboggans.

St Gwinear MAY have picked up a few centimetres but will have to report after Parks staff attend.

C'mon snow

The forecast snow for last night didn't eventuate......again. A few flurries forecast today and snow likely tomorrow down to 1100m so should be in good shape for the weekend.

As it stands 4 lifts turning and 38cm average in key areas i.e. Hut, Tank, Carpet. 4cm of natural snow. Frosti open but rated poor.

St Gwinear has no snow........:-(

4 lifts

Baw Baw is still running 4 lifts today with 38cm of man made snow in key areas. There is 4cm of natural across the resort so only fair to good snow play. Snow expected today and tomorrow so everybody needs to snow dance so we can get more terrain open and start the cross country stuff.

St Gwinear still only has patches at the car park so more suited to sight seeing

I often get asked why Baw Baw doesn't "just turn on the snow machines"..........In a nutshell its all about the conditions. It has to be at least 2 degrees below zero. Humidity and wind speed must be perfect. It is a fine art with Baw Baws old equipment. They do their very best and make snow every time possible. Please feel free to Email a politician and ask for increased funding for Mount Baw Baw so they can buy a "SNO FACTORY" This machine would guarantee snow on the toboggan run at least as it operates in temps up to 16 degrees above zero.

School is back

That means the lift lines are short and the snow is good. The team at Baw Baw have been hard at it again overnight making sure the runs are in tip top shape with man made snow. Currently scheduled to have 4 lifts turning. Hut Run, Tank Hill, Summit and Magic Carpet all operating today on 38cm of man made snow. Frosti Hollow also operating for the kids and big kids on toboggans.

St Gwinear still has no snow but forecasts are predicting low level snow over the next few days so cross your fingers

Guns overnight

Baw Baw has had the snow guns going overnight in key areas so expect a fresh ungroomed cover on Tank Hill, Hut Run and Magic Carpet as well as Frosti Hollow for the toboggans.

St Gwinear may have a few icy patches left at the car park and will still be pretty but limited to sight seeing

Light snow overnight

Baw Baw has only picked up 1cm of fresh snow overnight but that's keeping them in the game. As it stands 34cm of man made and Tank, Hut and magic carpet to operate. Frosti is open for toboggans. Fitting chains at time of report

St Gwinear is unlikely to have much (if anything at the carpark other than sight seeing and snowplay. Don't expect toboggan runs but do expect chains today

No change but change coming tonight

Baw Baw still has 3 lifts. 32cm man made. 4cm natural on average. Consistent low freezoing point below 1200m over the next few days should see snow again. Expect to fit wheel chains all weekend.

St G still has none at car park but expect tomorrows report to deliver good news
