Missed a day somewhere

Ooops....sorry missed a day yesterday. We have been busy which is great. That means there is heaps of snow on the ground and the kids (big and little) are out enjoying the fantastic conditions on offer. Word is out that we have downhill skis as they are going like hot cakes and we are loving it.

Conditions look good again today. A little snow in the mix for the next day or two. Bring a change of clothes as it could fluctuate between snow and rain.

Another beautiful day

Blue skies forecast and magnificent blue skies all day long. The snow is in great shape and 5 lifts are turning at Baw Baw. Cross country trails are groomed and firm while the toboggan parks are open and ready to go.

The crowds have been avoiding us and the mountains so far, so why not come for a drive today , say G'day, grab a $1 hot chocolate and head on up to Baw Baw or St Gwinear

Another beautiful day

Nothing but blue skies from my shop window and 38cm average snow depth. The crowds are gone, the snow is exceptional, the kids are on holiday, we have everything you need. Hope to see you soon.

Mixed emotions

Yesterday saw epic conditions on both mountains, unfortunately access was restricted and a lot of people came and left disappointed. We had such grand plans for the first day of school holidays and given we had amazing conditions and couldn't get to it at times was upsetting as so many kids missed out.

Today is another day. Baw Baw via the South Face Road IS open and St Gwinear is accessible but Parks staff have some tidy up to do so hold off for mid morning and they will have the carpark sorted.

Blue sky and up to half a metre of snow today......It does not get better

Snow in Erica

That's right, snow in Erica. Yesterday was HUGE. Snow fell down to 200m. We had steady snow from about 1:30pm and it just kept coming. All very pretty in town and the social media explosion was equally impressive.

Baw Baw picked up 35cm at last call (3pm) yesterday and it was still going. The team has been making snow too and grooming tirelessly overnight to get Tank Hill, Hut Run and Carpet open today. As they don't have all lifts running they are offering $50 adult lift tickets and $35 kids tickets.

St Gwinear reported some of the heaviest falls in a while. Waiting on a total but they had at least 10-15cm at the carpark yesterday morning. Expect a LOT more than that when I update

We have snow!!!

That's right, Baw Baw has picked up a glorious 15cm overnight and they still have the snow guns pumping it out. The forecast is for another 15-20cm today and tomorrow so we are well and truly in business. Currently -6 degrees on the mountain so rug up if heading up.

St Gwinear is still unofficial but expect 5-10cm at the carpark. Parks staff will be making there way up at 10am to get things groomed and packed ready for school holidays tomorrow.

Don't forget tomorrow June 25th we are celebrating by offering wheel chain and 2 toboggan single day hire for $25.

BLIZZARD

That's right.....blizzard. Today is the start of it friends. We should get a good drop later today and into tomorrow. Baw Baw is sitting in second place for snow fall in Australia with 44cm predicted the next 2 days. Rug up, get your bases waxed, edged sharp and wheel chains on because we are all go for the weekend.

Baw Baw will be working hard the next couple of days grooming the snow and packing it down ready for you on the weekend.

St Gwinear will be hard at it too from tomorrow making sure the snow is ready to go.

Temps dropping

Definite change in the air this morning. A few flurries this morning already and the crystal ball is saying 3cm today and hopefully the same tomorrow before things get real on Friday. Fridays forecast says 30cm and reaffirms my call yesterday for a split between 20cm and 30cm.......Time will tell but it is looking great for this weekend with blue skies Saturday and Sunday between a bookend snowy Friday and Monday.

See you all soon

Mixed reports

Anyone who follows daily snow forecasts by now already knows that they are......unpredictable. No different today. Reports are ranging for between 13cm and 47cm on Friday this week with varying totals over the weekend. Given this unpredictability I tend to split the difference and hope that gives you a rough idea. With that in mind I think this weekend will see snow falling at Baw Baw and St Gwinear with totals somewhere between 10cm and 13.7metres.......Yeah I know not real specific but as good as any of the professionals at the moment.

Seriously though, we will get snow on Friday. That should be a good drop allowing Tank Hill and Hut run to open at Baw Baw in time for Saturday Skiing/boarding.

Top ups over the weekend and into Monday should ensure some certainty for the next few weeks.

St Gwinear will have Parks Vic staff in attendance this weekend from Friday onwards with facilities open and ready for business.

Porridge and PJ's

Lots of rain overnight. Cloud cover everywhere. Snow gums poking through the mist. It is beautiful. Great day to be inside and snuggled in front of the fire. Baw Baw has the fires blazing and the hot chocolate ready to go so why not go for a drive and enjoy the restaurant and hospitality of the team at Baw Baw or head up to St Gwinear with a rain coat and some walking boots. It is still very pretty and the air is so clear after rain.

Things will be amazing this weekend according to all reports. Looks like 25cm+ on Friday and then blue skies all weekend. It should be enough for some lifts to turn and for the toboggans to get a run.

Don't forget we will be celebrating 25 years of service with single day hire of chains and 2 toboggans this Saturday 25th for just $25.
