Snow on the way

That's right, late Friday through to Tuesday there should be significant snow fall with the freezing point down around the 1000 metre mark consistently. This is good news as things are a bit average at the moment

Baw Baw has 24cm of man made snow. 2 lifts operating. Magic carpet and Tank Hill. Frosti Hollow is open but rated Fair only.

St Gwinear has no snow at the car park so expect a hike up to the viewing platform. Even then.....not so great. Zero tobogganing, zero skiing. Snow shoes ok but even then not needed most of the time.

Wicked Wednesday

So a bit of rain overnight has impacted what is left at Baw Baw and St Gwinear but its not all gone.

Baw Baw will still have fair snowplay conditions and tobogganing as well as Tank Hill and Magic Carpet for the skiers/boarders out there. Only 2 cms of natural left (Patchy) and 24cms of man made on Tank Hill.

St Gwinear has patchy snow at carpark. Both toboggan runs closed. Cross country trails only suitable for snow shoes at elevation.

Don't panic though......35cms in the forecast over the next should set things up nicely again

Limited......

Baw Baw has 2cm of natural snow today and 26cm of man made snow. 2 lifts turning (tank Hill and Magic carpet). Frosti Hollow is open and rated fair while snow play is also fair. Snowshoes only on the trails until further snowfall (expected from Friday)

St Gwinear have shut the runs again due to lack of cover. Snowshoes on the trails only and snowplay would be ok but expect a walk up to the viewing platform to avoid the ice.

Both roads open and clear but chains must be carried (just in case)

Blue skies continuing

The weekend was a cracker with so many smiling happy people returning. Blues skies and good snow conditions all weekend.

Baw Baw continues to be the best of them today with 7cm of natural snow and 32cm of man made on Tank Hill and Hut Run. Magic carpet in operation as well for beginners. Frosti Hollow open with a good cover for tobogganing and great snow play across the resort.

St Gwinear still has a little snow at the car park, however it is patchy on the toboggan runs. Muddy at the bottom. Enough for little ones to still have a play but serious tobogganers (is there such a thing?) will head to Baw Baw.

Beautiful Saturday

The forecast is good, the snow is good. Time to dust off the ski pants and get out there. Great weather forecast all weekend. 3 lifts turning at Baw Baw/ 10cm of natural snow, 50cm of man made. 3 toboggan parks in operation so room for everyone.

St Gwinear has 10cm at the car park, both toboggan runs open. Ski trails best suited to snow shoes until further snowfall. Please note we will not be putting out cross country skis this weekend.

Blue skies

Forecast for excellent blue skies all weekend. Baw Baw has 13 cm of natural snow (1cm fresh) and 50cm of man made snow. 3 lifts turning (Tank Hill, Hut Run and Magic Carpet) Excellent snow play and tobogganing.

St Gwinear has 13 cm at the car park. Great tobogganing and snow play. Not going to be enough for skis this weekend. Sorry friends but if ski patrol suggest rock hoppers, we suggest dragging out Grandpas old ones.

Word of the day - snowgun

That's it.....snowgun. They have had a huge couple of days at Baw Baw with the snow guns firing out 50cm of man made snow onto the runs. Beautiful conditions today with another 5cm of natural snow falling in the last 24 hours. Natural snow total is 13cm making conditions perfect for snow play and tobogganing. Cross country trails are open again and skiing boarding will be on Hut Run, Tank Hill and Magic Carpet.

St Gwinear has Parks Vic staff in attendance again with between 5-10cm at the car park. Tobogganing and cross country skiing back in action.

Back in business

Yahoo!!!! Baw Baw reports 8cm of fresh snow and it is still snowing. Great work overnight with artificial snow getting totals up to 25cm. I will update throughout the day but looks like enough to get a lift or two turning. Plenty to toboggan and for snow play. Not as low yet as forecast but snow will continue throughout the day.

St Gwinear is unofficial at this stage but customers coming back late yesterday reported heavy snowfall at the 6 km marker on the Thompson Valley road so should be sufficient snowplay quantities. I will update as soon as Parks staff give me the details.

Snow day

Today and tomorrow forecast for snow to low levels. The bureau predicts things from 10:00am today and continuing for 36 hours of beautiful snow. Expecting around 20cm. Don't expect to board or ski today though as Baw Baw will be working furiously to pack and groom the snow to try and keep it around. Tomorrow for lifts at earliest I would think. Great day for snow play with nice big fat snowflakes falling throughout the day. Expect to fit chains.

St G should pick up enough for toboggans from this system so stay tuned.

Cold day so rug up with temps expected to top -2 degrees

Incoming

Tomorrow and Wednesday look like what we have been waiting for. Expecting up to 25cm just in time to keep things going.

Baw Baw has 3cm of natural snow at the moment with tobogganing on lower Hut Run to continue today. Ski School is operating with magic carpet and Tank Hill to tower 1 on a patchy and soft base. Snow play is rated poor but will keep the little ones happy with enough to make a snow man and snowballs if you are dedicated.

St Gwinear remains snow free at this stage but looks like it will be back in action by Wednesday or Thursday with the snow expected well below car park level.
