A dusting of snow

Only a light dusting overnight to make it look pretty but unfortunately not enough to be overly practical. The reports have 3cm of man made on Tank Hill and Hut Run. Snowmaking still in progress but that means the single lift on Tank Hill wont open until 10am for limited skiing/boarding. Hut Run will be open for tobogganing today to keep the little ones happy. Good chance of snow above 800metres today (in the resort) but it wont be significant but would be really pretty to see.

St Gwinear may have a dusting (think frost) but not enough to toboggan or ski. Again looks pretty for the next couple of hours but will melt quickly and isn't sufficient to be practical.......

The good news (hopefully) Snow is forecast for the next few days with good totals again showing on the forecasts. Hopefully we will build on this little bit and have a cracker weekend next week.

Incoming

Finally a system that looks like it should give us some more snow. Its been a tough season so far but winter isn't finished yet. 15cm forecast over 24 hours should set things up nicely. The cold front will pass through today and bring nice cold temps tonight. Expect to fit chains all weekend. More snow on the cards right through until late August possible as well so hopefully some good spring skiing and boarding but don't wait.....this weekend might be the best snow all season (or not)

As it stands

BB has 5cm man made on Tank Hill for poor boarding (c'mon snow) and they have opened up Hut Run for toboggans today and will operate that all weekend snow pending.

St Gwinear is unmanned this weekend as there is no snow yet......Hopefully tonight will see it dressed in white again

Snow on the way

Not a moment too soon either. Forecast is for snow tomorrow and Saturday. Not the huge totals we are wishing for but enoughto get things going again. Baw Baw has contingency plans for the tobogganers this weekend if the snow doesn't happen with Tank Hill likely open to tobogganers while Hut Run will be available for skiing/boarding. Lets hope it doesn't get to that anyway with snow forecast right on time.

As it stands today there is 10cm man made. 3 lifts running (Tank,Hut and Carpet) and limited tobogganing on Frosti (or up around the summit away from prying eyes)

St G still has beautiful walking trails and with the forecast today why not take the opportunity to have a walk. Forecast is a top of 9 degrees with no wind and blue skies.

Mid week

A little rain overnight has not helped the situation at all. Hopefully tonight the temps drop and the snow guns can pump out some new cover. As it stands there is 10cm of man made snow for poor skiing and boarding on Tank Hill, Hut Run and the Carpet. Poor tobogganing on Frosti Hollow. Patchy snow around the resort but better cover up the top for snow play.

St Gwinear still has no snow.

Hanging in there

Baw Baw has 3 lifts operational today on a poor to fair 11cm base. Limited tobogganing on Fosti Hollow but still heaps to do. Make a snow man, have a snowball fight, grab a hot chocolate at the restaurant. Mostly sunny day with light winds.

St Gwinear has no snow however most predictions are pointing to potential this Friday, Saturday and Sunday so we just might be in for a great weekend with snow likely across 3 days.

Open for business

Baw Baw has blue skies and snow. 3 lifts turning today (Tank, Hut and Carpet) for fair to good skiing and boarding. Frosti Hollow is open for fair tobogganing. All the usual facilities are open and waiting to help you enjoy your day out. 2cm of natural snow on average and 12cm of man made for the skiers and boarders.

St Gwinear still has no snow unfortunately but they both may pick up a bit of a top up by next weekend with the forecast looking hopeful.

Another sunny day

Beautiful day up top today with barely a breeze to be had. Snow conditions are of course suffering a bit but the team at Baw Baw are working hard harvesting snow to keep the action happening. They have Tank Hill, Hut Run and the carpet running today. Lessons are happening, the huskies are present, the sun is shining, toboggan runs are a go. Enough snow for snow balls and snow men or women or even a unicorn with 6cm of natural snow and 16cm man made on average.

St Gwinear........great day for a bush walk but no snow

Hooray for the weekend

Partly cloudy today with slight wind forecast. A chance of some snow during the day so rug up.

Conditions are still nice at Baw Baw with 18cm of man made on Tank Hill, Hut Run and Magic Carpet. Rated Fair to Good for skiing and boarding. Cross country trails are open for snow shoes only and Frosti Hollow is open for good tobogganing.

St Gwinear has no snow at the car park but 8-10cm up around the summit (2.5km walk) so snow shoes. Beautiful day to go for a walk but no toboggans

Frosty

Nice cold temps overnight helping to freeze up the slopes will help to keep the snow around a bit longer. 8cm of natural snow for snow play. A good cover on Frosti for the tobogganers out there. 20cm of man made snow on Tank Hill and Hut Run with Magic Carpet also operating for the beginners means lots of fun for everyone. Bit of cloud about this morning at Baw Bawbut should fine up to a mostly fine day with the chance of a few snow showers to keep it nice. Lots of ice around the upper car park this morning so take care driving.

St Gwinear has a light dusting of snow at the car park but unfortunately not enough for toboggans. Good snow shoeing at higher altitudes but still not enough for cross country skis. Fair snowplay and excellent sight seeing.

Fresh snow

That's right.......just in time. Baw Baw has picked up 8cm of fresh snow overnight and it is looking beautiful again. More snow forecast throughout the day and a chance of some this Saturday to keep things going.

As it stands today - 8cm of fesh snow. 20cm of man made. Tank hill, Hut Run and Magic Carpet running for good skiing and boarding on a fresh cover. Tobogganing and snow play rated good.

Still no word on St Gwinear but expect enough for snow shoes and snow play.......Maybe enough for toboggans but will have to wait for a report from up top.
