Rain on the way.....but not yet

As above the rain is on the way and all resorts are in a bit of a flap. It is expected to impact late today and give NSW in particular a bit of a hiding. Hopefully Baw Baw holds up ok and manages to dodge the worst of it.

As it stands BB has 12cm of man made snow with 3 lifts turning and Summit on standby (Patronage will determine opening) so the more the merrier. Frosti Hollow is open for the toboggans but rated poor. Still 7cm of natural snow across the resort so snowplay is still pretty good.

St Gwinear would be patchy at the carpark. Doubtful that it would be skiable anymore after the warm weather but snow shoes and snow play would still be fair to good. Parks staff no longer in attendance until further snowfall

Goggle tan

Mostly sunny conditions today with warm weather and spring like conditions. Be sure to pack the sunscreen. Baw Baw has 9cm of natural snow and 14cm man made. 4/7 lifts turning for poor to good skiing and boarding. Frosti Hollow is open but rated poor but the snowplay conditions are great and the little ones will still have a great day. Weekday parking is $37 for the whole car and the Baw Baw crew is on a high after the best weekend all season.

St Gwinear has 5cm of snow at the car park but essentially nothing left on the toboggan runs which are shut. The little play area is ok for little kids for toboggans and the sight seeing and snow shoe conditions are good. Poor skiing from the car park but still good conditions up past the summit between Gwinear and St Phillack. Parks staff will not be in attendance until further snowfalls

Last weekend of winter......and its a beauty

Still heps of snow on both mountains for tobogganing, skiing and boarding.

Baw Baw reports 11cm of natural snow and 16cm of man made. 5/7 lifts turning today for fair to very good skiing and boarding. Two toboggan parks open for fair to poor tobogganing. Some cross country trails open for skis, some only suitable for snow shoes. Great day for snow play.

St Gwinear has 8-10cm at the car park. Both toboggan runs are closed but the little play area is open and Parks Vic will be in attendance as well as Alfies food van for some hot drinks and Donuts. Fair cross country skiing from the car park but watch out for rocks. Toboggan runs are getting muddy at the bottom but holding up. Please try and avoid the mud

Season best conditions

Heaps of snow on the ground at both Baw Baw and St Gwinear this weekend and beautiful blue skies forecast. It is the best its been in a very tough season. Don't hesitate, don't wait for it to improve just jump in the car and drive.

Baw Baw has 5 lifts operating today on a very good 18cm base of natural snow. All toboggan runs are open for business. Jake and the Huskies are open for tours as well as the usual assortment of activities on offer such as the Kid Zone.

St Gwinear is absolutely beautiful. You can ski from the car park all the way. Both toboggan runs are open as well as the walking trail (not to be confused with the ski trail). Parks Vic will be in attendance as well as ski patrol.

18cm of fresh snow

Amazing conditions today with 18cms of fresh snow on the ground with more snow expected. This is the best dump we have had all season so make the most of it. No crowds on a Friday so head on up and enjoy. 3 lifts turning (Hut, Tank and Carpet). Awesome snow play with fresh dry powder across the resort. Excellent tobogganing, skiing and boarding on fresh dry cover. It doesn't get better.

St Gwinear also has fantastic conditions. Toboggan runs should be open. Parks will assess around 9:00am but if you are up early don't expect the road to be cleared.

Snow overnight

Further snowfall overnight is keeping Baw Baw crispy fresh. Only totalling 1cm so far but more expected down to 800m today. Currently fitting chains at chain bay 4 so its come down a fair way which is great news. Totals are hovering around 3cm for natural and 10cm for man made. Frosti Hollow is open for toboggans and Hut, Tank and Carpet are operational for skiing and boarding. Cold temps for the next 48 hours should see the snow guns fire up and totals maintained or improved upon for the weekend so book ahead and get on up there. Cross country trails are open for snow shoes only but will provide some beautiful walking today.

St Gwinear picked up 7cm at the car park and the toboggan runs are covered. Parks staff wont be in attendance. Snow shoes essential on the trails today

Another run

Cold temperatures overnight and some hard work from the snow makers has allowed Baw Baw to open up another run today. They now have Tank Hill, Hut Run and Magic Carpet operational for fair skiing and boarding. Frosti Hollow is open for toboggans. There is a good chance tonight will see snow down to 1000m and more snow making opportunities to hopefully build a nice little base for another great weekend at the snow.

St Gwinear still has no snow but keep your fingers and toes crossed for some tonight.

Status Quo

Another 2cm overnight at Baw Baw sees the levels pretty much maintained after a bit of a loss yesterday due to melt.

Tank and Magic Carpet are operating for poor to fair skiing and boarding on a fresh soft cover. Frosti Hollow is open for toboggans but rated poor. Good snow play across the resort and fitting chains at time of report from chain bay 2. 10cm man made. 5cm natural

St Gwinear has insufficient snow for toboggans and is unmanned. Trail is suitable for snow shoes and you will find some snow further up the trail for snow play but not at the car park

Fresh snow

Wow what a difference 12 hours can make. Fresh snow overnight has put Baw Baw Back in business. There is 10cm of man made snow on the ground for good skiing and boarding on Tank Hill today, Magic carpet running for lessons as well. I expect Hut Run will get going later in the morning depending on grooming conditions. Excellent snowplay throughout the resort and snow expected throughout the day.

A light, patchy dusting of snow at the Gwinear car park. 5-7cm at the summit. Parks staff to be in attendance. Great day for the snow shoes, snow play and photographers.

Toboggans are king

Again we missed out on the forecast snow. However its not all bad news. Baw Baw has opened up Hut Run for toboggans and they also have Tank Hill operating for skiing and boarding. There is some snow around the resort for snowplay so the kids can still have a snowball fight and make a snowman. Returning customers yesterday reported a great day out for the kids with lots of exhausted little humans. Some snow falling throughout the day is likely above 1200m (resort level)

St Gwinear has no snow.....

Keep your fingers crossed for more snow as forecast throughout the week as winter isn't done yet.
