Blue skies

Baw Baw is the pick of the mountains today with 5cm of natural snow, 26cm of man made and 4 lifts turning. Skiing and boarding is rated mostly fair with Carpet Excellent for beginners. Frost hollow is open for toboggans. Small black ice warning this morning should clear up soon but take car on the road.

St Gwinear has remnants at the car park but toboggan runs are closed. Cross country skiing is poor and requires rock hoppers for the truly dedicated but snow shoes would be recommended. Snow forecast for later in the week should keep us going again in a very tough season

Monday July 31

Baw Baw has 4 lifts turning today with 28cm of man made snow in key areas. 7cm of natural.

St Gwinear has remnants at the car park but toboggan runs are closed. Fair snow play further up but Parks staff will not be in attendance.

Warm overnight and yesterday

Felt a little like summer yesterday with 21 degrees recorded here taking its toll on snow conditions. Currently Baw Baw has 9cm natural and 30cm man made. 4 lifts to operate (Hut, Tank, Summit and Carpet). Frosti Hollow is open for toboggnas with contingency plans in place for overcrowding on the toboggan run but please only toboggan in designated areas.

St Gwinear has some snow at the car park suitable for snow play. Skiing is fair across the plateau. Donut van (Anthony is keeping the hot drinks and food up to a very pleased crowd. Last word yesterday was one toboggan run open (muddy at the bottom) but will update on Facebook when rangers have called in

Howling Husky Races

The annual Baw Baw sled dog race is on today and tomorrow with competitors from near and far on the mountain and ready to win. It is a great spectacle with the dogs all very vocal from excitement as they run through the snow. Be sure to check out the action and cheer on local favourite Jake and the team from Howling Huskies

As it stands Baw Baw has 13cm of natural snow. 43cm man made. 4 lifts turning (Hutt, Tank, Summit and Magic Carpet) Frosti Hollow for toboggans but rated only FAIR.

St Gwinear has some snow at the car park (sorry I don't have a total) Only 1 toboggan run open. Main trail open for cross country skis and snow shoes.

More snow overnight

Finall starting to accululate some snow with a further 7cm of frsh snow overnight setting us up for a great weekend. As it is today Baw Baw has 4 lifts turning (Hut, Tank, Summit and Carpet) Excellent snowplay and tobogganing plus don't forget the husky races this weekend providing plenty of excitement on the mountain.

Still a bit early for Parks staff to report from St Gwinear but expect both toboggan runs and ski trail to be nice and white. I will likely update our facebook page before I can get back to this one so as soon as they call in a report I will have something more accurate for St G posted.

Mixed bag

Overall net gain overnight with a mix or rain and snow topping up the totals. Overall Baw Baw has 6cm of natural and 34cm of man made. 4 lifts turning, toboggan park is open and fitting chains at time of report.

St Gwinear has hopefully picked up a top up as well. As it was the car park had 6cm and 1 toboggan run open. Expect good cross country skiing this morning with snow on the main trail.

As it stands. Baw Baw has 5cm natural. 34cm man made. 4 lifts turning and Frosti open for toboggans but rated poor. Currently snowing @ 1530hrs

St Gwinear has closed one toboggan run. One run open. Skiing on a soft cover but consistent up above the car park.. Currently snowing at 1530hrs

Tuesday.....all day

Good skiing and boarding at Baw Baw today with 5 runs and 4 lifts. Painted run is accessible, Hut, Tank, Summit and Carpet lifts operating. 7cm of natural snow and 36cm of man made in key areas. Frosti hollow is open but rated poor for toboggans but there are heaps of snow play areas.

St Gwinear hasn't been official since Sunday but returning customers yesterday report 8-10cm at the car park with both toboggan runs open and the main ski trail skiable from the car park.

Great weekend and now the crowds are gone

Still excellent conditions at both mountains with Baw Baw reporting 38cm of man made snow and 9cm of natural. 4 lifts operating at this stage with an assessment due soon on Maltese. Frosti Hollow and Frantic frog are open for toboganns and rated good and fair respectively.

St Gwinear has 8cm at the car park and up to 35cm around Jeep track flat and the Rock Shelter. Both toboggan runs are open and facilities will be attended by Parks Staff.

Brew fest and snow.......how good is that

That's right. Brew fest is on at Baw Baw. That means beer snd cider tastings as well as German sausages to keep you warm and fuelled up today. HEAPS of snow and it looks like 5 lifts to operate. Hut Run, Tank Hill, Summit T-Bar, Magic Carpet and MALTESE.......Best conditions of the season. Frosti Hollow for toboggans so heaps for everyone.

St Gwinear has 10cm at the car park and you can ski from the car park on the main trail on firm packed snow. Both toboggan runs are open, Parks is in attendance and Anthony will keep the donuts and hot chocolate up to you at the St G food van.
